David and Goliath

God has done a huge work in my life this week! I went to Supper Summer at Hardin-Simmons University with Coggin and I'm completely changed. God revealed to me that I'm no longer aloud to sit on the sidelines and watch others spread the Gospel. I have to stop caring what people think about me and be radically obedient to the fact that He's called me to follow Him daily and tell people of who He is and how He is the ONLY WAY!

In 1 Samuel, David hears that there is a Philistine who has been mocking the Israelites for the past 40 days. There's basically this 9+ foot giant standing on the battle field mocking God and daring anyone to come try and take him on. Well isn't having any of it! In chapter 17 verse 32 he goes to King Saul and says that he'll go fight Goliath. Saul replies in verse 33 with, "Don't be ridiculous! There's no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win! You're only a boy, and he's been a man of war since his youth."
Yeah Goliath's like 10 feet tall, but David's been fighting off lions and bears as his father's shepherd for years! Plus, David's got something Goliath doesn't have. He's got God on his side. In verse 37 David tells Saul, "The Lord who has rescued me from the claws of the lion and bear will rescue me from this Philistine!" So, the way I see it we have two options:
1. We live like David and know that there is absolutely NOTHING in this world that can conquer us because God is in us...HELLO! He created it for goodness sake!
or
2. We look at things like Saul, live on the fence, and cower at the battles that come our way because we aren't willing to put our trust in Christ.
We try to make excuses and throw out the, God can't use me, or I'm too young, it's not possible, but if you flip over to the New Testament in 1 Timothy 4 you'll see in verse 12 that Paul tells Timothy, who is a young preacher at the time,  "Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity."
We serve the one true God and we've run out of excuses! If we're not telling people of Jesus Christ and leading them to salvation, then why are we here????? I know that if we would all just put Christ first, we will be able to reach the nations like we're called to do in Acts 1:8 which says, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere - in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
No more excuses. And no exceptions. Are you ready to answer the call?
